Dr Tiffany Wood
Chief Executive Officer, Dyneval

Dr Tiffany Wood is an academic scientist turned entrepreneur, since 2020 co-founder and CEO of Dyneval Ltd, a fast-growing Agri-tech company selling innovative Dynescan semen analysers to improve food security while reducing the carbon footprint of dairy and beef production. Tiffany maintains a role at the University of Edinburgh supervising postdoctoral research in complex fluids physics connected with a patented technology, DAINtech, she invented for the formulation industry, developed through a Royal Society Industry Fellowship between 2015-2019 following the discovery of a new type of gel structure, published in Science in 2011. Previously, she co-founded the Edinburgh Complex Fluids Partnership, providing consultancy, contract and collaborative research in formulation science, processing and product characterization, and developed extensive networks working with a wide range of industries including the pharamaceutical, cosmetic, food and drink and agrochemical sectors. Tiffany is passionate about delivering impact for the greater good from scientific advances in the world of colloidal science. Prior to joining the University of Edinburgh in 2007, Tiffany was a postdoctoral researcher working with Prof Paul Bartlett in the School of Chemistry at the University of Bristol and conducted her PhD into ‘Optical Tweezers and Liquid Crystals’ under the supervision of Professor Helen Gleeson at the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Manchester. Tiffany is on the Board of Trustees of the Society of Chemical Industry.
